Youth impacted by commercial sexual exploitation may respond to fear, uncertainty, perceived rejection, or loss of control with anger, withdrawal, threats, refusal, or other intense behaviors. These responses are often understandable survival strategies rather than deliberate attempts to create conflict.
This interactive session will help participants recognize escalation early and respond in ways that increase safety, preserve dignity, and reduce power struggles. Participants will explore how trauma, exploitation, attachment disruptions, and experiences with controlling adults can influence a young person’s response during conflict. The session will introduce practical strategies for regulating oneself, communicating calmly, offering meaningful choices, setting respectful boundaries, and supporting youth as they return to emotional and physical safety.
